‘AN ODE TO CORNWALL’ AFTERNOON TEA

Be transported to Cornwall this autumn as the Wellington Lounge at the InterContinental London Park Lane launches ‘An Ode to Cornwall’ Afternoon Tea, in partnership with renowned international executive pastry chef, Martin Chiffers.

A native of Cornwall, Martin has joined forces with the Mayfair hotel to create an afternoon tea experience inspired by the rich culture and culinary heritage of the county, utilising the best of local produce.

Launching from Wednesday 20^th September, take a seat in the elegant Wellington lounge and indulge in a decadent selection of handmade treats and savoury delights. Start the journey with savoury options, including Newlyn Crab Casserole with Smoked Cornish Caviar Crostini from Martin’s hometown; or try St. Ewe Egg Mayonnaise with Watercress Choux, sourced from a multi award-winning free-range egg producer nestled on the Roseland Peninsula in Cornwall.

Jam comes before the cream with Saffron Raisin Scones, followed by sweet treats including a centrepiece chocolate artwork depicting ‘A fish sale on a Cornish beach’ by British artist Stanhope Alexander Forbes, a founding member of the influential Newlyn school of painters.

Other delights come in the form of the Duchess of Cornwall Hat with Blackberry Meringue, Cornish Fairings Mousse and Cornish Blackberry Mead Jelly, inspired by Catherine Middleton’s hat; and a Cornish Apiaries Honey Cake with Crème Fraîche, created with Martin’s uncle in mind, who was a honey producer. Each guest will also be gifted with a Chiffers Signature Cornish Clotted Cream Fudge to take home.

Complementing the ‘An Ode to Cornwall’ Afternoon Tea is an extensive range of premium teas from the East India Company. Guests can choose from over 20 blends and infusions from across the globe, including the No. 1 Park Lane bespoke blend, or opt for a tipple from a curated list of wines, cocktails and champagne, including Ruinart, Veuve Clicquot and Dom Pérignon.
